With over 25 years’ experience in the tourism, digital and training environments working in retail, wholesale, accommodation, education, State and Regional Tourism Organisations. Her enthusiasm for all things Tourism and digital is obvious and she is passionate about giving practical tips to get great results.
A qualified trainer and presenter Susan assists tourism operators to understand the ever-changing digital environment. Her great sense of humour and down to earth approach allows her to work collaboratively with tourism business owners, operators and customer-facing sales staff to develop a digital strategy, increase their digital knowledge, build their digital skills and grow business revenue through cost effective digital campaigns, customer engagement and reputation management.
Highly regarded for her group workshops, webinars and one on one mentoring capabilities Susan tailors’ content and delivery to a broad range of audiences and skills levels. Her business, Connect Tourism, has clients right across Queensland and more recently has expanded into Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. She also works in partnership with other tourism and marketing consultants for delivery of specific projects.
She is a passionate and enthusiastic tourism champion, an appointed Judge for Queensland Tourism Awards and Immediate Past President (2016, 2017 and 2018) of the Skål International Sunshine Coast (Global Tourism Networking Group) and a member since 2009.

Connect Tourism partners with Tourism Tap
30-year career has provided her with the unique opportunity to develop, launch, market and/or manage some of Australia’s best loved tourism destinations, events, attractions and products. The commercialisation and management of the $54M Cairns Aquarium is the most recent, significant project she has undertaken.
Working for Councils, Regional Tourism Organisations, publicly listed companies, government owned corporations, and small to medium private enterprise businesses, in strategic marketing and operational management roles has facilitated Julie’s exposure to a wide range of business models and operations, resulting in a broad industry profile, knowledge base and professional network.
Julie’s business, Tourism Tap, leverages this knowledge to assist businesses to generate new, or increased revenue streams from tourism related activities. Clients can secure her services to manage the entire product development cycle from concept to consumer or tap into her considerable knowledge base to solve specific problems or identify and leverage emerging tourism opportunities. Visitor Experience development and the application of new digital technologies to drive better tourism outcomes has become an area of recent focus.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science – Biology which drives her passion for eco-tourism and science related projects. She has also been appointed as a judge for the Qld Tourism Awards for 2019.
